In response to increasing demand for transparency on product content, Mermet USA announces the completion of several Health Product Declarations (HPD). The HPDs, which provide architects and specifiers an extensive report on the human and ecological health impact of the ingredients used to produce the fabric, have been completed for Mermet’s range of performance fabrics manufactured in its South Carolina facility as well as its industry-leading GreenScreen® shade fabrics.
“Being a responsible environmental steward requires an ongoing commitment to product progression,” said Jules Duguay, General Manager, Mermet. “We strive to lead the industry in quality, durability, aesthetics and performance, and our work to address the needs of the market in both product range and material disclosure is evidence of that. However, we believe sustainability today comprises more than just materials – it is about the product’s performance and its overall effects on occupants. We evaluate our fabrics on a number of levels to ensure we are providing the performance, aesthetic and material components that contribute to healthy, productive and beautiful spaces.”
As an industry leader and innovator, Mermet delivers the most technologically advanced roller shade fabrics in the industry. The company’s extensive range of fabrics provide healthy, sustainable solutions for most any project or building application, offering daylighting, improved indoor air quality, reduced solar heat gain, energy savings, UV resistance, recycled content and enhanced acoustical comfort. The revolutionary GreenScreen Revive® fabrics, featuring Repreve® recycled fibers, are available in 1% and 5% openness, featured in nine colors and have been tested to meet globally recognized performance standards. A 100% PVC-free polyester fabric, GreenScreen Revive® is Cradle to Cradle CertifiedSM Silver and can contribute to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) points.
“Although HPDs are voluntary from the regulatory stance, it is a growing request from the architectural and building materials communities when selecting and specifying products,” said Jeffrey Miller, Manager, Solar Control Products with Draper, Inc. “Remaining transparent has been vital in our business. Obtaining an HPD for GreenScree Revive® and other Mermet-brand fabrics solidifies Mermet’s place in the industry.”
