Company recycling program
GreenScreen® Recovery Programlearn more
Through creative approaches and dedicated initiatives, we are finding new ways to manage, minimize and recycle our post-production materials like never before.
GreenScreen Recovery Program
Through the GreenScreen Recovery Program, Mermet will take back and recycle 100% of any GreenScreen Evolve or GreenScreen Revive fabric received from Program participants. This fabric will be processed to create a second generation Repreve fiber which may be re-purposed for use in a variety of products, including new GreenScreen fabric.
Mermet Recycling Program
Mermet’s Green Steering Committee and Sustainability Project Manager ensure our associates are periodically trained in clean production processes and procedures. Because of this, our team is increasingly taking the initiative to be greener and more environmentally responsible. Some of these gradual changes include:
Attending regular, Single Sort Recycling training classes and conferences
Consciously disposing of work materials in proper containers
Donating scrap fabric for interior design and textile education
Eliminating the use of Styrofoam cups by using personal coffee mugs
High Performance Fabrics
Mermet high performance shade fabrics are among the most innovative in the industry. With leading technologies such as Enduris™ Glass Core and patented KOOLBLACK™ Technology, Mermet is creating the world’s most technically advanced fabrics for solar protection, energy savings, acoustical comfort and interior design excellence.
KOOLBLACK® Technology Fabrics with Near Infrared, Heat Reflective Properties
Only Mermet dark screen fabrics with award-winning KOOLBLACK Technology reflect solar heat as well as light color fabrics! It is now possible to specify the elegance of top-selling, dark neutral colors and achieve superior view through without sacrificing energy efficiency. Mermet fabrics with KOOLBLACK Technology are valued as a high-performance architectural asset and may contribute to LEED points in several categories.
GreenScreen Recyclable Designer Shade Fabrics made from Recycled Water Bottles
Mermet is a leading pioneer of sustainable textile technology. The GreenScreen portfolio of recyclable fabrics represents a proud legacy of zerowaste innovation and cross-disciplinary corporate collaboration. GreenScreen Evolve and GreenScreen Revive are 100% recyclable products made from recycled post-industrial waste and post-consumer plastic water bottles! Both designer fabrics are as environmentally responsible as they are beautiful.
EndurisTM Glass Core Technology
Mermet’s solar screen collections featuring Enduris Glass Core yarn are the industry standard in durability. The unparalleled dimensional stability of fiberglass resists fabric elongation and maximizes the beauty and life of a roller shade. Fiberglass is a product primarily engineered from silica, which is the naturally ocurring mineral composing sand. The low carbon footprint of a mineral-based yarn, in addition to its extended product longevity, ranks Mermet fabrics with Enduris Glass Core Technology among the industry’s leading high performance screen fabrics.
Resistant to warp, waviness and elongation
Non-rotting and resistant to mildew and bacteria
Relatively unaffected by heat, humidity and load
High durability and strength for long shade life-span
Made in the USA and quality inspected
Health & Safety Certifications and Testing
Submitted to a number of internationally recognized testing facilities, our technically efficient fabrics pass certifications created to set high standards for providing comfortable, sustainable, and safe indoor environments.
Cradle to Cradle Bronze
Health Product Declaration (HPD) Sheets
In response to increasing demand for transparency of product content, Mermet has completed several Health Product Declarations (HPD).The HPD’s provide architects and specifiers an extensive report on the human and ecological health impact of the ingredients used to produce the fabric. HPD’s are available for download on all South Carolina manufactured fabrics, as well as, industry-leading GreenScreen Revive® and GreenScreen® Evolve™ shade fabrics.
