Mermet’s New GreenScreen® Evolve™ Transforms Sun Control Textiles IndustryC
Innovative Solar Shading Fabrics Take Color and Performance to New Heights
Mermet USA has introduced GreenScreen® Evolve™, a groundbreaking solar shade fabric that offers performance attributes unrivaled in the textile industry. The next step in Mermet’s Repreve® fiber-based product line, GreenScreen Evolve provides specifiers with a shading fabric that offers the beneficial qualities of sustainability, color and solar performance combined into one fabric style.
Featuring a clean and crisp view through, similar to that of a basket weave, GreenScreen Evolve is available in four openness factors (1%, 3%, 5% and 10%). The balanced knit construction of GreenScreen Evolve® provides a full-bodied fabric for ease of handling and installation. Mermet also worked with global architecture and design leaders to develop a rich, modern color palette with nine beautiful styles.
“Mermet worked very closely with several prominent designers at leading architectural and design firms to develop the new, dynamic color options for GreenScreen Evolve,” said Jules Duguay, General Manager for Mermet. “We consistently reach out to the A&D community to better understand how we can address their needs when it comes to sustainability, color and performance in window covering fabrics. Their feedback has helped drive not only the new GreenScreen Evolve fabric, but Mermet’s range of sun control textiles.”
Made of 100% PVC-free polyester, GreenScreen Evolve contains up to 72% Repreve® fibers. These fibers are made from 100% recycled materials, a combination of post-industrial and post-consumer plastic waste. In comparison to virgin polyester, Repreve® reduces energy consumption by over 6%, water consumption by nearly 50%, and greenhouse gas emissions by over 34%. The fabric is 100% recyclable, a contributing factor in earning the prestigious Cradle-to-Cradle certification.
Offered for both manual and automated window shading systems, GreenScreen Evolve fabrics are fire retardant (NFPA 701, CSFM Title 19) and provide excellent solar control capabilities. Manufactured in the U.S. and now featured in nine colors, these specialty fabrics work to control glare while serving as a natural daylighting source with clean outward visibility.
“We aim to provide healthy, sustainable and high-performing fabrics for most any project or building application,” Duguay continued. “With GreenScreen Evolve, we believe we have managed to take sustainability, aesthetic and performance expectations to another level.”
Cradle to Cradle Certified™ and GREENGUARD Goldcertified, GreenScreen Evolve has been tested to meet globally recognized performance standards and is RoHS Compliant.
